Human rights • civil society • legal analysis • education • advocacy
Since 2009, Notabene has worked in Tajikistan to protect human rights and develop civil society. We combine legal analysis, education, monitoring and public dialogue so that international standards and legal guarantees work in practice — in legislation, in the work of institutions and in people’s everyday lives.
Who we are
Notabene is an independent human rights organisation that helps turn knowledge about human rights into practical action and decisions.
We study the problems faced by people and civil society organisations, analyse legislation and practice, prepare recommendations and support the implementation of Tajikistan’s international human rights obligations.
Our approach in one formula: facts and analysis → clear recommendations → training and dialogue → practical change.
What we do
Legal analysis and research
We analyse legislation and practice, assess compliance with international standards and prepare analytical materials and recommendations.
Monitoring of commitments
We track the implementation of recommendations of international mechanisms and of the National Human Rights Strategy until 2038.
Human rights education
Practical programmes for civil society organisations, human rights defenders, lawyers, young people and public officials; training modules, manuals and guides.
Support for civil society
We help organisations strengthen governance, planning, reporting, communication, security and documentation skills.
International advocacy
We contribute to alternative reports and materials for the UPR, treaty bodies and other UN mechanisms.
Documentary films and public dialogue
Documentary stories, public screenings and discussions help speak about human rights in a clear, human way.
